ATLANTA — MARTA Riders were left out in the cold after over 100 bus shelters were vandalized in what the agency describes as a spree of destruction.
Riders along Memorial Drive and other areas were left without adequate shelter on Thursday morning as wind and cold weather blew into the city.
The vandalism between Dec. 3 and Dec. 10 has left bus shelters shattered or covered in graffiti, causing delays in repairs. MARTA reports that the graffiti was created with a liquid that etches into the glass, making the cleanup lengthy.
Many shelters, like the one on Memorial Drive, remain exposed, forcing riders to brave the cold temperatures while waiting for buses. As of now, the agency has not identified any suspects or motives behind the vandalism.
