Gwinnett Police ask for help finding hit-and-run suspect in death of 24-year-old woman

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Police in Gwinnett County are asking for help finding a suspect in the hit-and-run death of a 24-year-old Sandy Springs woman in the early morning hours of last Friday.

According to the Gwinnett County Police Department, Mecha Woodard pulled her car over to the side of the road on Boggs Road near the entrance to GA-316 around 4 a.m.

GCPD says while she was walking in the grassy area, known as a "gore zone," between Boggs and the 316 entrance ramp, she was hit by a vehicle. Investigators believe it is a 2019-2022 Lexus RX350 or Lexus RX450, based on parts recovered at the scene.

Anyone looking for the car who hit Woodard will notice damage to the front passenger side bumper and headlight, police said.
