A metro Atlanta man was arrested Thursday morning by U.S. Capitol police on gun charges.
Police said Robert Wesley Combs, 23, of Monroe, Ga., was arrested on New Jersey Avenue around 9 am during what they called a "routine parking enforcement" and saw a firearm in a parked vehicle.
Police said Combs arrived on the scene while they were investigating.
A subsequent search, according to police, found the weapon, ammunition and other items recovered from the vehicle.
Combs has been charged with interstate transportation of firearms; unregistered firearm, and unregistered ammunition. Additional charges are pending, but police said there is no indication of any connection to terrorism.
