ATLANTA — Multiple people, including children, have been shot at a home on Adkins Road, according to Atlanta Police.
This happened just after 10 a.m. Sunday.
Officers said the victims consisted of three adults and two children, ages three and 15. Thankfully, all are in stable condition. In addition officers said two other children, who were not harmed, were present at the time of the shooting.
As for the suspect, police said that he was 18 years old and died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the scene. The 18-year-old was identified as Samuel Johnson-Taylor.
During a press conference hours later, police they believe the shooting began as an argument that escalated to gunfire.
Officers added that they do know the suspects relation to the victims but are not releasing that information or his name yet.
The shocking news comes amidst a violent weekend in Atlanta. Police Chief Darin Schierbaum noted that while crime is down in the city, the trend of domestic violence continues, adding "this is not gangs, guns and drugs ladies and gentlemen, this is domestic violence, where individuals use a gun to resolve a dispute."
Apart from the six shot on Adkins Road, including the dead suspect, seven other shootings have been reported:
- A man was shot and killed on Piedmont Road Sunday morning
- An argument over an eviction led to one woman shot, killed on Margaret Plance
- A man was gunned down, killed Saturday at an apartment complex on Magnolia Way
- One man shot, killed on Fairburn Road
- One man was shot and killed on Norwood Road
- Two people were shot on Orlando Street
