JONESBORO, Ga. — A man who police wanted to question about two homicides is dead after a shootout with law enforcement officers, according to the Clayton County Sheriff's Office.
Henry County Police were looking for Donnie Hall who was a person of interest in two separate homicide scenes in Hampton that "appear to be related and have one victim in each."
Just before 6 p.m., the deputies with the Clayton County Sheriff's Office said Jonesboro officers were involved in an exchange of gunfire and vehicle pursuit with Hall.
Clayton deputies said no officers were injured, but the suspect accused of firing at police is deceased.
According to Jonesboro Police, it all started when a witnesses spotted Hall at the QuikTrip on Tara Boulevard and called police. Officers showed up and tried to conduct a traffic stop.
Police said Hall took off, made a circle, and ended up at the Fayetteville Road and Tara Boulevard intersection near the QT once again.
Jonesboro officers said they tried to conduct a PIT maneuver.
"But the suspect already began shooting at them out of the window," said Jonesboro Police Chief Clifford Kelker.
At some point during the incident, Hall was shot, authorities confirmed.
Hall left the area and drove to Sunnydale Lane. A GBI release on Tuesday said he was found dead in his car at that scene, and that no shots were fired there.
Video showed a heavy police presence near Sunnydale Lane at Stockbridge Road. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been called in to investigate the officer-involved shooting.
The Hampton murders occurred at the 100 block of Carl Parker Drive and the 900 block of Steele Drive, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
