Off-duty law enforcement officer hurt during a dispute while working an extra job, Atlanta Police say

The law enforcement officer was sent to a hospital in stable condition, police said.

ATLANTA — Editor's Note: This story has been updated to clarify that this was a law enforcement officer with the Fulton County Sheriff's Office who was hurt. 

An off-duty law enforcement officer was hurt while working an extra job on Friday night, police said. 

According to the Atlanta Police Department, officers responded to reports of a person injured at 775 Joseph E. Boone Blvd NW shortly after 11 p.m. This shows up as the address for HN Liquor Store. 

When officers arrived, they found a 54-year-old man with visible injuries. He was sent to the hospital in stable condition, police said. 

Investigators responded to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Police said that preliminary information suggests the man was an off-duty law enforcement officer with the Fulton County Sheriff's Office working an extra job. While he was working, the suspect and he allegedly got into a verbal dispute that turned physical, police said. 

This is an active investigation, police said.
