ATLANTA — An officer is recovering from minor injuries after being hurt during a scuffle with a burglary suspect on Sunday morning.
According to the Atlanta Police Department, officers responded to a Dollar Tree on Ralph D Abernathy Blvd SW around 4 a.m. Upon arrival, an officer saw a male suspect leaving the location carrying a book bag. The officer then attempted to detain the suspect, but the suspect physically resisted. Police said this resulted in a scuffle, which led to the officer using his Taser.
The officer then successfully detained the suspect. Police said the officer sustained minor non-life-threatening injuries.
A witness gave other responding officers a description of a second male suspect, and officers were able to detain a second suspect at a nearby gas station. Both suspects were in possession of stolen merchandise from the business and are facing charges, police stated.
