CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. — Two men who believed they were talking to 14-year-old girls online were arrested this week after an undercover online chat investigation, the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office said.
The sheriff's office said its Internet Crimes Against Children unit made the arrest.
"The suspects were communicating online with what they thought were girls 14 years old and younger," a sheriff's office release said.
The sheriff's office said 25-year-old Jerome Walker, of Canton, offered undercover detectives posing as a girl money to stay with him for the weekend, and traveled to Woodstock on Tuesday to meet her.
"He arrived at the Cherokee County Recreation Center, next door to the CSO Criminal Investigation Precinct, shortly before 3 p.m. and was taken into custody," the sheriff's office said.
He was charged violating the Georgia state Computer Pornography and Child Exploitation Prevention Act, attempted child molestation and pandering.
The sheriff's office said the other suspect, 22-year-old Andy Estremera, of Gainesville, requested and sent inappropriate images over the chats before asking the "girl" to take a taxi to meet him in Hall County.
He was arrested at his house by Gainesville Police, and is being charged with violating the Georgia state Computer Pornography and Child Exploitation Prevention Act, sexual exploitation of a child, obscene internet contact with a minor and electronic distribution of obscene material to a minor.
Both men are to be held at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center without bond.
