Man killed after being shot, struck by vehicle in hit-and-run: DeKalb Police

Police said a man was found dead at North Hairston Road and Trace Terrace on Tuesday night.

STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. — Police are investigating after a man was found dead after a hit-and-run in DeKalb County late Tuesday night. 

Around 11:17 p.m., officers responded to North Hairston Road and Trace Terrace after reports of a person struck by a vehicle. The intersection is not far from Stone Mountain High School. 

Upon arrival, police said they found a 30-year-old man dead on the road. Authorities said the vehicle involved left the scene before investigators showed up.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released. There is no word on a possible suspect at this time. 

In an update, DeKalb Police said the medical examiner's office advised investigators that the man had also been shot. The police department's homicide detectives are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting and hit-and-run.
