ATLANTA — A woman was shot Monday afternoon on Ponce de Leon Avenue in the shopping center where the Plaza Theatre is located.
Atlanta Police Department officers confirmed she was shot at the address that corresponds to the FedEx Office next to the theater's entrance.
When officers arrived, they found the woman with a gunshot wound. She was alert, conscious, and breathing. She was taken to the hospital for medical treatment, APD said.
Officers said they took a man into custody in connection to the shooting. According to APD's preliminary investigation, the victim and suspect were in an argument that led to shots being fired.
11Alive SkyTracker flew over the scene where police tape had blocked off the entrances to the parking lot of the shopping center, which is at the corner of Highland Avenue.
Investigators with APD's aggravated assault unit are still working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
