MARIETTA, Ga. — Cobb County Police arrested one person after a deadly shooting took place Wednesday morning at a Marietta motel.
Clarence Mitchell, 28, was arrested in connection to the shooting death of Ricky Haney. The 31-year-old was found shot at the Cumberland Lodge off South Cobb Drive.
When officers arrived, they found Haney had been shot in his abdomen. He was taken to a hospital where he later died, according to a news release from the Cobb County Police Department.
Investigators determined Mitchell shot Haney after the two got into an "altercation" just before 5 a.m.
Mitchell was charged with felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Cobb County Police are still investigating the case.
