COBB COUNTY, Ga. -- South Georgia authorities arrested two suspects connected to several business robberies that happened in metro Atlanta.

Cobb County, Marietta, and Smyrna officers held a news conference Thursday to discuss the taskforce they formed to catch the robbers.

"This started for us in Marietta with an incident that occurred at 4:30 in the morning, Tuesday morning on Sandtown Road and Powder Springs Street," Marietta Officer Chuck McPhilamy said.

The Quick Trip at that location was robbed by two people.

McPhilamy said Cobb County investigators had already notified them that there might be a string of robberies in the area. They then learned the crimes had spread to Smyrna.

Authorities in Smyrna were investigating two robberies - the first one happened on July 14 at 7 p.m. and the second one happened on Aug. 6 at 9 p.m.

The victims in one of those crimes were women and teens.

"They essentially did a takeover in that business," Sgt. Defense said. "There were teenagers in that business and two pregnant women while they facilitated that crime. So were are elated that they are off the streets."

A Dollar Tree in Cobb County was also robbed on the 6th.

"Investigators collaborated with Cobb and Marietta because at that point and time, we felt like we had the same individuals in common that were committing those armed robberies," Sgt. Louis Defense of Smyrna Police said.

Cobb Police Officer Sarah O'Hara said one of their officers got a description of the man and woman.

"By getting out there and talking to the citizens of Cobb County, he was able to actually get an identification of the suspects," she said.

The duo was captured in South Georgia at a Walmart off of the interstate.

"All indications were they were trying to leave the area and leave the state," McPhilamy said.

Authorities said its possible more charges could come for the suspects.
