COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A man was found dead in a roadway early Tuesday morning, according to a release from Cobb County Police Department.
Around 3:02 a.m., police were called to Mableton Parkway and Bonanza Trail on reports of a man lying in the road.
Officers said they found a man dead, with a gunshot wound to the head. They later identified him as Howard Smith, 42, from Mableton.
Investigators said Smith was out on Monday evening with a 44-year-old man from Austell and another person.
Cobb County Police have charged the man from Austell with murder and aggravated assault.
There is no information stating that the other person was involved, according to authorities.
This investigation is still active, police said, and those with more information should reach out to detectives.
