Candler Road Checkers shooting was over food mix-up, victim's mom says

Two people were reportedly shot at a Checkers restaurant on Candler Road early Wednesday morning.

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — DeKalb County Police were investigating a reported shooting at a Checkers drive-thru restaurant in the 2800 block of Candler Road early Wednesday morning.

According to Tracy Farley, who says she is the mother of one of the shooting victims, her son and a second person had a mix-up with their orders.

When they told the clerk about the issue with the order, Farley said, the clerk allegedly stuck a gun out of the drive-thru window and shot at the two of them, striking one of them and grazing the second person.

"My son was grazed," Farley said. "I haven't seen my son since we got here."

Farley said that she just wanted to make certain that her son was safe. She said she was also concerned with her son and his condition.

"When he left here, he was fighting for his life," Farley said. "I'm praying for him."

DeKalb Police did not have immediate details regarding the shooting, nor any additional information regarding the shooting victims.
