Police said it happened overnight Aug. 23.

MARIETTA, Ga. — Police arrested a man after they said he strangled a woman to death after an ongoing domestic dispute.

Police said it happened overnight Aug. 23.

According to the Marietta Police Department, officers found 24-year-old Xi-anna Graham inside a Bonnie Dell Drive home around 4 a.m. Thursday. Police said the suspect, 27-year-old Christopher Scarboro, lived at the home with Graham and her four children.

Authorities arrested Scarboro later that same day, and took him to the Cobb County Adult Detention Center. Scarboro now faces charges of Homicide Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault and Cruelty to Children in the 3rd Degree.

Police are still actively investigating the case, and anyone with information is asked to contact Marietta Detective Michael Selleck at 770-794-5372.

In a statement, the Marietta Police Department said their "thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and family of everyone involved in this tragedy."

They also urged anyone who may be or knows someone who may be in an abusive relationship who is a victim of an ongoing domestic violence to get help.

"You may be saving your own life or the life of a friend," the department said.

According to the Georgia Commission on Family Violence, there were 121 domestic violence-related deaths in Georgia in 2016. They and the Marietta Police Department urge abuse victims, as well as anyone who knows of someone being abused, to contact 1-800-33-HAVEN, or the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-7233 for help.
