COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Two people were shot and injured Tuesday in Powder Springs by a gunman with an "AK-style rifle," according to police.
The Powder Springs Police Department said it arrested a 20-year-old suspect, and that the two victims are expected to survive.
It happened Tuesday afternoon at a Shell Station on Richard D. Sailors Parkway. According to police, the suspect "was confronted by the manager of the business about a previous theft incident."
"During the confrontation, (the suspect) attempted to steal items from the business again," a police statement said. "A witness confronted (the suspect) and stopped him from taking any items from the business."
That that point, according to police, the suspect went to his car, took the rifle and "started firing shots into the business."
The suspect was arrested later in the evening and booked into Cobb County Jail.
He faces two charges of aggravated assault, two charges of reckless conduct and two charges of tampering with evidence.
