Meet Legend, Lolly, Luna -- the 3 pups stolen from Albany Humane Society. There's a reward for their return

Surveillance video shows the moment gunshots are fired and the glass door shatters. Then, a person wearing a ski mask enters the facility.

ALBANY, Ga. — Shattered glass, bullet holes and three missing dogs -- that's what the Albany Humane Society said it's had to deal with this week following a break-in.

And now, the organization is on a mission to find the three missing pups. A person shot out the front glass door late Tuesday night to gain entry to the facility. The crime was captured on surveillance video, which AHS shared with 11Alive.

In the clip, you can hear the gunfire and see the glass door shattering. Moments later, a person wearing a red ski mask enters into the facility.

“I can only imagine how traumatizing the shots fired were to our animals, especially our office cat you can see running away in the video," said Payton Jarrell, the shelter director. "We are so fortunate that the bullets only made it through two walls because right on the other side is where our cats are housed."

The surveillance system is how the staff was notified about the break-in. The team said they contacted Albany Police, who arrived on the scene in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Watch it below.

"We are devastated that three puppies were taken but so happy that no other animals were harmed,” Jarrell said.

Employees also discovered a donation box was stolen during the break-in.

A reward of $1,500 is out for the safe turn of stolen puppies Legend, Lolly, and Luna.

"These puppies have names. They have little beating hearts," a Facebook post said, adding that others stepped in to pledge the reward funds.

The stolen puppies can be taken to the PetSmart on Dawson Road for a no-questions-asked drop-off; the same is true if the puppies are taken to Revolutionary Canine of Albany.

"Not only have we lost valuable donations that were meant to help animals in need, but we will incur unnecessary expenses to repair the damage done. And Albany Humane Society relies heavily on donations to do our work every single day,” said Samantha Threadgill, development director.

AHS said it was quoted about $1,000 to repair the damage.

"It's very discouraging that someone would do this to a non-profit that works tirelessly to help animals and the community,” Lulu Kaufman, the board president added.

Anyone with information about the stolen pups or the break-in can call AHS at 229-888-7387 so that the staff can inform police. 11Alive also reached out to Albany Police about the investigation. We have not heard back yet.
