ATLANTA — Police said seven people were wounded in a shooting late Friday night in southwest Atlanta's Mechanicsville neighborhood.
Atlanta Police Investigator James White III said that officers responded to an address in the 700 block of Ira Street, S.W., at about 11:15 p.m., in response to a person shot.
When they arrived, according to White, witnesses said that a black SUV and a black sedan had driven into the location and began firing at a group of people.
White said that seven people were hit by gunfire. He said four vehicles were damaged.
The shooting victims went to several different hospitals around the city for treatment, and according to White were all reported to be alert, conscious and breathing.
The police investigation is continuing.
