ATLANTA — A woman who had allegedly stabbed her boyfriend twice before was convicted on Monday in the third violent attack that ultimately killed him less than a year later.
When police found 40-year-old Sasha McCalop hiding in a shed on Jan. 17, 2018, she claimed she had stabbed 47-year-old Michael Martin in self-defense.
But it came out in court that she had a "propensity for violence," according to the DeKalb County District Attorney's Office. She was even charged with stabbing the very same person twice in 2017.
But it wasn't until the third known attack in that time that Martin ultimately died as a result of his femoral artery being severed due to stab wounds to his back and thigh.
Police had just heard from Martin when he called 911 asking that they remove McCalop from his home on Welland Avenue in Southeast Atlanta. He was on the phone with a 911 operator as he bled out.
McCalop was sentenced to life in prison by Superior Court Judge Linda Hunter.
