Police search for person of interest after man shot to death at Rome apartment complex

The fatal shooting happened at the Callier Forest Apartment Complex on 131 Dodd Blvd. The person of interest is wanted for questioning, Rome Police said.

ROME, Ga. — Police said they have a person of interest in mind and are searching for them after a fatal shooting at a Rome apartment complex.

A man died in the early Tuesday morning shooting, police said.

It all unfolded at the Callier Forest Apartment Complex on 131 Dodd Blvd. Police said when they got to the scene, they found a man, later identified as Te’Vian Williams Sr., who was shot in the upper leg area.

Authorities said he was "bleeding heavily," and that officers helped Williams until emergency services got there. The 30-year-old man was then taken to the hospital where he later died. 

His body will be taken to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab for an autopsy, according to Rome Police. 

After talking to witnesses and collecting evidence, investigators said they were able to identify a person of interest. Authorities have not released the individual's name yet.

Police believe the shooting is an isolated incident adding that the victim and the person of interest knew each other.
