Man asking for money at Chamblee QuikTrip shot to death, suspect charged in his murder identified by police

The shooting happened Monday around 12:35 p.m. at the gas station on Chamblee Tucker Road, where police said a man was shot near a pump.

CHAMBLEE, Ga. — A 23-year-old man who was asking for money at a Chamblee gas station Monday is now dead, and the man accused of killing him has been identified, according to the Chamblee Police Department.

The shooting happened around Monday around 12:35 p.m. at the gas station on Chamblee Tucker Road, where police said a man was shot near a pump.

Police identified the suspect as Quinterius Sutton, 26. According to jail records, he is being charged with murder, possession of a firearm and driving without a valid license. Sutton is also accused of murder in another homicide that happened in August.

According to authorities, witnesses said the victim, 23-year-old Anderson Adonay-Perdomo, was asking different people for money at the pump when he walked up to the suspect's vehicle, where he was shot. 

Police said the Adonay-Perdomo was taken to the hospital in "critical condition." On Tuesday, police said that he died around 3 p.m. on Monday.

Chamblee Police tracked down the suspect's vehicle in East Point an hour after the incident happened. According to authorities, Sutton was then taken into custody. Police are holding him at the DeKalb County Jail.

Police are still investigating the incident.
