BARROW COUNTY, Ga. — A 60-year-old man was shot and killed by Barrow County deputies after he allegedly had a gun Sunday, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
In a Monday news release, the GBI revealed that the officers were responding to a domestic disturbance at a home on Thorn Brook Circle in Bethlehem.
When the deputies arrived, they were confronted by an "armed man," who was later identified as Robert Reynolds, Sr. That's when three deputies reportedly fired shot at him, according to the GBI.
It is unclear if Reynolds pointed his gun at deputies or if he attempted to shoot at deputies before he was shot at.
Reynolds was taken to a hospital where he later died. His body was then taken to GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy to determine how he died.
The GBI said no deputies were hurt in the incident. Barrow County Sheriff's Office said the community was not in any danger while the incident unfolded.
GBI officials said this was the 96th shooting involving law enforcement this year.
