ATLANTA — A suspect is on the loose after a shootout with police at an Atlanta apartment complex on Saturday.
On Saturday night, around 10:22 p.m., police said they responded to a call about a dispute involving a weapon on Huff Road.
Once on the scene, they found a man with a gun at the Avana Westside Apartments. Officers said the man fired his weapon at them, prompting them to return fire.
Police also tell 11Alive that a woman was inside the apartment with the man. Thankfully, they were able to remove her from the scene safely before SWAT arrived on the scene.
However, Atlanta Police said the man had left by the time SWAT was able to enter the apartment.
No injuries were reported, but police said they continue investigating the situation.
