ATLANTA — Father and son staff members at Edwards Middle School in Rockdale have been charged after what sheriff's deputies described as "suspicious behavior."
Deputies said the school was placed on lockdown Wednesday to protect students.
During their investigation, authorities said they found one of the staff members, Paul Schwartz, was in possession of two razor blade knives. He has apparently been charged with two counts of bringing a weapon on school grounds.
Meanwhile, his son, contracted staff member Paul Schwartz Jr., was charged with making terroristic threats, according to the sheriff's office.
"The safety of the students at Rockdale County schools is a priority. We are taking all necessary steps to ensure their well-being," the sheriff's office added.
