FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — A student was arrested at a Forsyth County middle school for bringing a gun on campus Tuesday, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Deputies said a 14-year-old student at Little Mill Middle School was removed from class and searched by a school resource officer. The student was then arrested and transported to the Regional Youth Detention Center.
Authorities said no one was hurt, and no other students were involved.
“This is a sobering example of why it is so important to emphasize 'see something, say something' to our kids and students as it takes all of us to keep our kids and schools safe," Forsyth County Sheriff Ron Freeman said.
Little Mill Middle School Principal Connie McCrary sent a statement to parents and guardians notifying them of the incident and urging them to remind their students to be vigilant.
"The safety of our students and staff is our number one priority at Little Mill, and it takes all of us working together to keep our school and community safe," the statement read in part. "As we wind down the end of the school year, please continue to stress to your children that we all must practice “see something, say something.”
The incident remains under investigation by the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.
