Surveillance video captures images of streetcar vandal

Several Atlanta Streetcars were vandalized overnight Monday.
Atlanta Police released this image, captured by surveillance video, showing the suspect on the right.

 

.ATLANTA -- Atlanta Police released an image of a man suspected of vandalizing several Atlanta Streetcars. 

A spokesman for Atlanta Streetcar told 11Alive News three cars were vandalized after a suspect jumped the fence at the Auburn Avenue maintenance facility. The damage was discovered at 3:00 am Tuesday when a supervisor reported for work.  Witnesses told police the suspect entered the locked storage area between 11:30 pm Monday and 2:50 am Tuesday. 

Two of the 60-passenger streetcars were spray painted. Large letters in silver paint cover the sides of the cars. They were cleaned and returned to service by 10:00 am Tuesday. 

There were security cameras in the area. Atlanta Police used that video to distribute images of the suspect on their Facebook page. If you recognize the person in the photos, you can call Atlanta Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS.
