Suspect accused of attacking elderly woman, daughter at Forest Park store arrested

The Clayton County Sheriff's Office said Joseph Arnold of Atlanta was taken into custody without incident.

ATLANTA — The man that authorities said was responsible for attacking an elderly woman and her daughter at a grocery store earlier this month in Forest Park has been arrested, according to a release from the Clayton County Sheriff's Office.

The two women, ages 80 and 60, were assaulted while they were in a checkout line at a Wholesale Food Outlet store on Jonesboro Road on Feb. 3, Forest Park Police said.

"The male offender became upset and struck the daughter and then through her elderly mother to the floor," Forest Park Police said in a news release at the time.

Investigators released an image from a surveillance camera that showed the suspect, and a forensic artist from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation created a police sketch of the suspect.

The suspect was eventually identified as Joseph Kenneth Arnold of Atlanta.

Deputies from the Clayton County Sheriff's Office apprehended Arnold without incident.
