Suspect in killing outside of Macon dies after killing self during Conyers standoff, sheriff says

When U.S. Marshals attempted to arrest the suspect, they ended up in a standoff, the press release says

CRAWFORD COUNTY, Ga. — The suspect in the killing of a woman found dead on the side of the road in Crawford County killed themselves as law enforcement attempted to take them into custody, according to a press release from the Crawford County Sheriff's Office.

They say Baldwin County man Timothy Lamar Crow, 52, was wanted for the death of 35-year-old Callie Brooke Goolsby, who was found dead on the side of Smith Chapel Road back on Aug. 8.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigations — who took over the case — secured an arrest warrant for Crow on Aug. 16, the press release said.

But when U.S. Marshals found Crow in Rockdale County, they say Crow killed himself after a standoff with authorities.

Crow was charged with felony murder, malice murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm or knife during commission of or attempt to commit certain crimes.

Goolsby was previously taken to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy. She was the daughter of Forsyth City Council member Greg Goolsby, according to her obituary.
