SOUTH FULTON, Ga. — A man wanted in connection with the deadly shooting of a teenage barber last year has died by suicide, according to the Clayton County sheriff.
Sheriff Levon Allen spoke only to 11Alive Thursday afternoon, saying fugitive investigators went to a location in the 5100 block of Welcome All Road with a murder warrant for Aliouny Fall. While they were there, Allen said there was a commotion that took place behind them at an apartment building where witnesses said someone had been shot.
"We then turned our attention to that location where we came in and searched the property to find out that the actual suspect that we were looking for was the one that had succumbed to self-inflicted injuries," the sheriff said.
The death by suicide is being investigated by the South Fulton Police, Allen said.
On April 2, 2022, 17-year-old Anthony "China" McClain was shot and killed outside of his shop, Da Barbas Lab in River Station Plaza along West Fayetteville Road.
Clayton County Police originally said they were searching for one suspect: Jaimonni Watkins-Causey. He was arrested in Florida on a felony murder warrant last October. Rontavius Deon Holt was taken into custody in March.
Previously, Clayton County Police mentioned they were also looking for another man -- Jamoriyan Keon'Tai Eutsey -- in connection to this case. On Thursday, the police department said he is still not in custody.
Investigators have been working on the case since the shooting and learned more about the circumstances this week.
"Yesterday, they actually were able to put everything together to identify who we were out here for today," the sheriff said.
Community and family members previously expressed McClain's death as an unexpected and tragic loss.
The barbershop was the teen's second business. He also owned an organic juice company and had recently received an LLC before his death. McClain was in college and received his license to cut hair beforehand, working his way to earn his own chair in the front of the shop.
