DECATUR, Ga. — An hours-long SWAT standoff at a DeKalb County home Thursday led to the arrest of a teenager wanted for murder.
Law enforcement arrested 18-year-old Shuntrez Giles at a home along River Ridge Court in Decatur after he barricaded himself inside. Negotiations lasted roughly five hours before authorities took him into custody, DeKalb Police said.
Giles was wanted in a fatal double shooting that police said happened on April 28 in the 3500 block of Panthersville Road. It left 17-year-old Tayshawn Foston dead and another person injured, according to police.
DeKalb County Police, DeKalb County Sheriff's Office, SWAT and Marshals were lined up outside of the home on Thursday afternoon as they worked to take the suspect into custody.
The 11Alive Skytracker flew over the scene at River Ridge Court, where armored vehicles were seen outside.
Police said that the hard work from detectives led them to finding Giles at this location months after the shooting.
