Gwinnett SWAT arrests man barricaded in home near Loganville

The man is facing charges in Walton and Henry counties.

LOGANVILLE, Ga. — A man is in custody after a SWAT standoff near Loganville Wednesday.

Police said an officer used a tag reader and was able to flag a stolen vehicle. A 46-year-old man then drove that car to a home on Compton Woods Drive in unincorporated Loganville in Gwinnett County.

Gwinnett County Police Department officers responded to the home where two women ran away while the man barricaded himself inside. He refused to leave, according to police.

SWAT was called to coerce the man out. Warrants were obtained and he was eventually arrested, Loganville Police said.

Authorities said he complained of chest pain so he was taken to the hospital. He's accused of felony theft by conversion in Walton County and several felony warrants in Henry County.

Loganville Police did not say if the man would face charges in the county.
