A 17-year-old was arrested and charged with felony murder on Wednesday.

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A teenager has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of a 16-year-old boy earlier this month, Gwinnett County Police said.

Police arrested 17-year-old Jason Joel Ortiz on Wednesday and charged him with felony murder, aggravated assault, armed robbery, and possession of a firearm during the commission of certain felonies. Jose Yahir Batz, 16, was killed on Nov. 8.

The shooting happened at 2400 Windsor Woods Lane, which, according to Google Maps, appears to be near the Huntington Ridge Apartments.

Officers responded around 4 p.m. and located the victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

"Preliminary details indicate that at least two males were involved in a type of altercation that led to gunshots being fired," officers said in a news release. "Detectives have one male detained at this time."

Cash was located near the victim, which police said possibly indicates a transaction had taken place. Gwinnett Police said homicide investigators canvassed the area and conducted interviews about what happened.
