Teen arrested after young cousins killed in Forest Park double homicide, police say

Two cousins, Jonathan Zuniga and Edwin Dominguez, were killed in the Sunday, Nov. 5 shooting.

FOREST PARK, Ga. — Editor's Note: The above video is from a previous version of this story.

A 16-year-old was arrested on Monday in connection to the shooting death of two young cousins, according to Forest Park Police.

Jonathan Zuniga, 21, and Edwin Dominguez, 23, were killed in a Sunday, Nov. 5 shooting.

Forest Park Police said Dominguez and Zuniga were shot and killed inside a car near the intersection of Watts and Bartlett Road. The car was thrown in reverse, crashed into a parked car, and hit a neighbor's mailbox.  Police previously believed the teen could have been inside of the car when the shooting unfolded.

Robbie Cotton, a neighbor, discovered the gruesome scene after she heard the commotion.

Cotton said she saw blood, a cell phone, and a gun and called 911. Cotton lives with her mother, who has mental health issues, and her two kids. She said she was grateful her son wasn't outside playing.

"I have to live with, for the rest of my life, that scene that I saw," Cotton said. "I wish I didn't see it."

Authorities added that the shooting appeared to be a "drug transaction that went wrong," but Edwin and Jonathan's older cousin, Yesenia Turpin, does not believe that is the case.

Edwin worked for FedEx and Jonathan for Quiet Logistics.

"Edwin was extremely goofy," Turpin said. "He was always the life of the party. Every time he entered into a room, we knew he was here."

"Jonathan was a little more shy, but he was always smiling, happy—always communicating, just having a good time with his siblings most of all," Turpin added. "He was definitely someone that his siblings looked up to as well."

Authorities said the teen suspect's name will not be released. The 16-year-old currently faces two counts each of felony and malice murder, two counts of aggravated assault and gun possession charges.

The teen will be taken to the Department of Juvenile Justice to await a court date.
