DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A 17-year-old is now behind bars after three people were shot during a shocking shootout caught on video in the parking lot of a DeKalb County gas station Tuesday, police said.
That teen, identified as Malachi Giles, is now being charged with three counts of aggravated assault, according to DeKalb County Police.
Earlier this week, 34-year-old Darius Morris (pictured below) was arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated assault. Jail records show that he was out on bond after allegedly being involved in a 2020 murder.
More on the shooting
According to the DeKalb County Police Department, the shooting happened in the 2000 block of Candler Road before 8:30 p.m. When officers got to the area, they found a 32-year-old and a 44-year-old man with gunshot wounds who were taken to the hospital. Police said they had non-life-threatening injuries. A third person was a 39-year-old man who had a graze wound and did not need to go to the hospital.
11Alive obtained chaotic gas station surveillance footage from the scene that showed an explosive round of shots being fired at the front of the store.
Multiple men can be seen firing shots outside of a car in the video while other cars in the lot scurry away from the scene and people crouch outside the convenience store.
More footage captured bystanders inside the store ducking down as soon as they heard the shots; one man appeared to be injured.
