Suspect arrested after teen injured in drive-by shooting at Atlanta apartment complex: APD

It happened in Atlanta's Hammond Park neighborhood on Thursday.

ATLANTA — A suspect in now behind bars after a 13-year-old boy was injured in what Atlanta Police are calling a drive-by shooting at an apartment complex in Atlanta's Hammond Park neighborhood. 

Officers said they responded to Pavilion Place Apartments off Cleveland Avenue right around 6:15 p.m. to calls of a person shot. The apartment complex is near A Town Wings and Dollar General. 

When police arrived at the apartments, they said they found the teen suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was "alert, conscious and breathing" but was taken to Grady Hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Atlanta Police said their initial investigation indicated the boy was walking when a group drove by in a car and opened fire on him. 

The suspect faces multiple charges including aggravated assault.
