ATLANTA — A 15-year-old was shot in Atlanta on Friday night, just under two hours before the Thanksgiving weekend curfew put in place to keep them safe, according to reports from police.
The shooting happened on Calhoun Terrace SW around 10:40 p.m., where officers with the Atlanta Police Department said a 15-year-old was found shot in the leg. Police said he was taken to the hospital and that an investigation is still ongoing.
That's just under two hours prior to the Thanksgiving weekend curfew which started at 11 p.m. Thanksgiving night and runs through 6 a.m. Friday and Saturday's curfew goes from midnight until 6 a.m. Sunday's curfew goes from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.
It was passed in response to a deadly 2022 shooting near Atlantic Station, killing two young boys. Zyion Charles and Cameron Jackson were both shot and killed at 12 and 15 years old after the Thanksgiving weekend shooting last year. Four others were hurt in the shooting. Police arrested seven people in connection with the incident.
