2 teens hurt in shooting, taken to hospital in private vehicles: APD

APD said officers responded to the shooting at 6:10 p.m. in the Vine City near Elm St. NW and Joseph E. Boone Blvd. NW.

ATLANTA — Two 16-year-olds were hurt after a shooting in Atlanta Friday evening, according to the police department. 

APD said officers responded to the shooting at 6:10 p.m. in the Vine City area of Elm St. NW and Joseph E. Boone Blvd. NW near Rodney Cook Sr. Park-- not far from the Georgia World Congress Center and the Benz. 

When officers arrived, the police department said the teens had been taken to the hospital in private vehicles. At the hospital, officers discovered the teens had been shot several times and both were alert, conscious and breathing, according to APD. 

Investigators with APD's aggravated assault unit are looking into the circumstances surrounding the incident. 

No other details were released from Atlanta Police at this time.
