BROOKHAVEN, Ga. — Editor's note: The above video is from a previous report on the shooting.
Three suspects have been arrested in connection to a deadly shooting over the weekend at a popular park in Brookhaven.
According to police, Davion Meux, Diamoni Henry, and Azrah Sheppard are all facing felony murder and armed robbery charges in connection to the death of 21-year-old Brandon Xavier Davis of Decatur.
On Nov. 9, officers responded at 5:26 p.m. to Blackburn Park on Ashford Dunwoody Road and found Davis with a fatal gunshot wound near the tennis courts. First responders tried to render aid, but Davis died from his injuries.
Detectives immediately launched an investigation, identifying suspects through a combination of evidence, witness statements, and data from Flock Safety License Plate Readers.
On Wednesday, Brookhaven detectives executed a search warrant at an Atlanta residence, leading to the apprehension of Azrah Sheppard, who police believe acted as the getaway driver.
Evidence suggests Sheppard, along with suspects Henry and Meux, conspired to lure Davis to the park under the guise of a business transaction, intending to rob him.
“Brookhaven’s ongoing investments in cutting-edge crime fighting technology has once again brought a swift resolution to this senseless and violent crime,” said Brookhaven Mayor John Park. “I hope that this
development brings a small degree of comfort to the grieving family of the victim... and to the surrounding neighbors who have been deeply disturbed by this incident.”
Authorities said additional charges could be filed.
The investigation remains ongoing, with police urging anyone with information about the incident to contact the Brookhaven Police Department at 404-637-0600.
