Only days before Keisha Lance Bottoms is set to be sworn in as Atlanta's new mayor, three men were convicted in the shooting death of her nephew.
On Thursday, Rashad Barber, 19; Ryan Bowdery, 23; and David Wallace, 22, were convicted in the death of Darius Bottoms, whose vehicle was ambushed as he drove along Legacy Drive in southwest Atlanta.
Bottom was fatally shot in the head, while a passenger in the vehicle escaped injury. An investigation revealed Bottoms was mistaken as a rival gang member.
All three men received life sentences in prison.

Bottoms was 18 when he was killed. “We are pleased that they have finally been prosecuted. This is a monumental loss for us. Darius will always be remembered,” said one member of the Bottoms' family.
Keisha Lance Bottoms was recently elected Atlanta's 60th mayor in history. She will be sworn in early in January.
