ATLANTA — Atlanta Police are investigating a deadly shooting that happened Friday night along Travis Street in a parking lot. One person is facing charges in the case.
According to APD, Zone 5 officers responded to the scene in the 600 block of Travis Street just after 8 p.m. and found a man with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
At the scene Friday night, Atlanta Homicide Commander Lt. Andrew Smith said officers detained a security guard who worked the parking lot.
"There was a verbal dispute that led to gunfire," Smith said.
Since then, APD said they charged 27-year-old Jacquez Whitfield with murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Whitfield was taken to the Fulton County Jail.
