NEWTON COUNTY, Ga. — A man has been sentenced in the murder of Morgan Bauer, who vanished back in 2016, the Newton County District Attorney's Office announced Wednesday.
Jonathan Warren and Katelyn Goble were previously arrested last August on a slew of charges, including murder, in connection to 19-year-old Bauer's disappearance.
In new developments on Wednesday, Warren entered a guilty plea to malice murder, tampering with evidence, concealing the death of another and necrophilia, Newton County DA Randy McGinley said in a statement.
Warren asked the court to be sentenced to life with the possibility of parole, while McGinley said the state argued life without parole was the appropriate sentence.
After hearing both arguments, McGinley said the court agreed with the state and sentenced Warren to life without parole.
Meanwhile, McGinley added the indictment for Goble is still pending.

More on Morgan Bauer's case
Morgan Bauer was last seen on Feb. 25, 2016, when she left Top of Gainesville, a nightclub where the 19-year-old was a dancer.
According to police, she left the club with some people and was dropped off at a Citgo gas station in Covington. Bauer posted on social media the next day on Feb. 26 but she was never seen again.
She had moved to the Atlanta area from Aberdeen, South Dakota, about two weeks before she went missing.
11Alive previously spoke with Morgan Bauer's mother, Sherri Keenan, who said the last time she saw her baby girl, she gave her something to keep her safe.
“We didn’t really talk, I gave her a penny though. I told her to put the penny in her pocket and to keep it with her to keep her safe," Keenan previously said. "She was with a friend but I don’t know who he was. They walked off and that was the last time I ever saw her."
