DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — DeKalb County Police are investigating after one man was killed in a triple shooting at a gas station on Sunday afternoon.
The shooting happened at the Texaco/Circle K off Candler Road and Kelly Lake, in Decatur, just before 3:30 p.m., police said. When officers got there, they found Antione Lewis, 41, suffering from a gunshot wound inside a car.
Lewis was rushed to a hospital where he was treated for life-threatening injuries, but later died, police said. Investigators said there was evidence of a second victim at the scene, and that suspicion came true when a man and woman showed up at the hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. They got there on their own.
Police said shots were fired after a physical altercation broke out between two groups.
The gas station appears to have shattered glass and a leaking ceiling as a result of bullets. Police said two vehicles were also damaged. A dark gray SUV was towed from the scene.
In an update on Dec. 20, the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Unit, with the help of Georgia State Patrol SWAT, arrested a suspect in connection with the shooting.
The sheriff's office said Demarco Boyer, 26, was taken into custody at an apartment complex off Roswell Road in Atlanta. Authorities said Boyer was taken to the DeKalb County Jail, where he's being held without bond.
He faces murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon charges.
Loved ones lit candles and laid flowers in front of the gas station's entrance to honor Lewis. A woman who said she was Lewis' girlfriend of one year said he had a son. She started a makeshift memorial outside of the gas station.
