An investigation into one person suspected of molesting a child turned up two arrests in the northeast Georgia mountains.
On Tuesday, 22-year-old Cody Whitmire of Tiger, Georgia was charged with six counts of child molestation, one count of exploitation of a child and one count of statutory rape after a nearly month-long investigation. Investigators also arrested another person, Tamtha Watts on one count of child molestation.
Both arrests came after a joint investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Cleveland office and the agency's child exploitation and computer crimes unit that began on Oct. 15.
Agents believed a person in the Rabun County area may have been in possession of graphic images and was committing child molestation. Their investigation was able to corroborate those suspicions, they say.
Upon completion of the investigation, the case will be handed over to the Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney.
