GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Two people were arrested for lying about a robbery at a Norcross business, according to the Gwinnett County Police Department.
It happened on April 5, around 4 a.m. Police said a woman called stating she was robbed while "closing her place of business" that morning. It was at 1461 Pirkle Road, which, according to Google Maps, is the address associated with Panaderia Golden Cake Bakery.
"She stated a male suspect armed with a handgun forced her back inside the business and demanded money from the cash register," police said in part.
Gwinnett Police said she gave the man $2,800, and he left.
Investigators began conducting interviews and looking at cameras around the location and identified a 55-year-old man from Jonesboro as the suspect.
He was arrested on April 15, and his interview led detectives back to the woman who initially made the call, with police determining the two had fabricated the entire incident.
