USPS mail carrier charged with 51 felonies, 9 misdemeanors for mail-related crimes

Gwinnett County police arrested USPS carrier Marcus Gregory on 51 felony charges and 9 misdemeanor charges for various mail-related crimes.

DACULA, Ga. — A United States Postal Service mail carrier is facing 60 charges after allegedly stealing mail, dumping it in the woods, and using drugs while on the job. 

According to the Gwinnett County Police Department, USPS carrier Marcus Gregory was arrested on 51 felony charges and nine misdemeanor charges, including DUI drugs, possession of a schedule I narcotic, possession of a firearm during a crime, theft of stolen mail, theft by taking and obstruction. 

The USPS Inspector General contacted GCPD on July 31 regarding Gregory. Authorities had been investigating him after several complaints of individuals not receiving their mail. 

On July 31, undercover officers witnessed Gregory dump mail in the woods near Williams Farm Road and Highway 316 and then use drugs in his vehicle, the release said. Officers pulled Gregory over and arrested him. 

During a search of his work vehicle, officers found more drugs and a handgun. A search of his personal vehicle turned up 215 pieces of stolen mail. Officers served a search warrant at Gregory's residence on Aug. 3 and found more mail.
