ATLANTA — Police have released a sketch of a man who allegedly tied up a man at gunpoint and robbed a business after pretending he wanted to sell carpet.
The reported robbery happened on June 22 around 7 p.m. in the 3700 block of Zip Industrial Boulevard according to Atlanta Police. Officers arrived and spoke with the victim who said that the robber entered the store and said he wanted to discuss selling carpet. The victim said he let the suspect into the office area from the hallway.
But, according to the police report, when the fake salesman turned the corner, he pulled out a handgun and asked: "Where's the money at?"
The victim directed him to a desk before he said he was tied up with duct tape and a belt. The report states the robber then got a set of keys from the victim's pocket and got the safe from a drawer, which contained roughly $2,500. He also reportedly took $172 from the victim's pockets along with keys to his home and personal and business vehicles.
The victim finally managed to escape from the tape and call the police. And while there are cameras in the area, police are relying on a sketch based on the victim's description.
In the report, the victim described his attacker as a light-skinned black male who was about 6 feet 1 inch tall. He was described as young with no facial hair or tattoos.
