ATLANTA — A woman is dead after being hit by a car on I-20, Atlanta Police said.
According to the Atlanta Police Department, officers responded to a deadly collision on I-20 just past Moreland Avenue around 1:40 a.m. on Sunday. When they arrived, they found a woman who was pronounced dead at the scene. The medical examiner's office has since identified her as 32-year-old Shantea Reeves.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a black Mustang was racing another vehicle on the interstate and appeared to have hit the woman who was walking on the side of the shoulder, police said. The Mustang did not remain on the scene, according to police.
APD is working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and this is an active investigation, police said.
