DECATUR, Ga. — DeKalb County Police are investigating after a woman was found dead inside of the woods Thursday evening.
Police said they were called out to the 2900 block of Panthersville Court in Decatur around 6:40 p.m. When they got there, they said they found a woman dead in the woods. Police described her to be in her 40s or 50s.
On Friday, police arrested 57-year-old Cedric Thomas, who police say knew the victim, and charged him with murder. He was booked into the DeKalb County Jail.
Initial investigation from homicide detectives appears to show the woman was assaulted, but the cause of death has not been determined.
DeKalb Police said the investigation into the woman's death remains ongoing, and further details will be released later. The victim's name will be released once next of kind has been notified.
