ATLANTA — A key witness in the trial against rapper Young Thug and the alleged YSL street gang has been arrested and held in contempt after refusing to testify on the stand.
The arrest came after Kenneth Copeland, also known as rapper Lil Woody, became increasingly agitated after being called to the stand by the state. He refused to answer questions and then invoked his Fifth Amendment against self-incrimination to avoid testifying.
"I'm grown," Copeland replied when an attorney asked his age. "I'm an adult."
Shortly after, Judge Ural Glanville excused the jury and arrested Copeland for contempt of court.
Glanville said he is ordered to return on Monday to testify. The jury was dismissed for the day.
The trial for Young Thug and multiple co-defendants named in a 56-count RICO indictment has been ongoing since January 2023.
