'Security concerns' prompt seating changes in YSL RICO trial, Fulton County sheriff's office says

The Fulton County Sheriff's Office said it is conducting an "active investigation" into the concerns.

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — Defendants in the ongoing YSL RICO trial have had their seating reconfigured in the courtroom amid reports of "security concerns" at the Fulton County Jail.

On Wednesday, at the start of proceedings, Rapper Young Thug, whose real name is Jeffrey Williams, was seen at the front of the courtroom alongside his attorney, Brian Steel. Williams is currently being housed at the Cobb County Jail, on behalf of Fulton County authorities, where he has been held since his arrest in 2022. However, other co-defendants are being housed at the Fulton County Jail.

Several co-defendants also had their seats swapped, with Deamonte Kendrick, also known as Yak Gotti, appearing in the middle and Marquavius Huey and Shannon Stillwell seated toward the back. Other co-defendants were also sitting along the sides of the gallery.

While the specific reason for the change in seating arrangements is unknown, the Fulton County Sheriff's Office said it was conducting an "active investigation related to security concerns," which could have contributed to it.

"We cannot discuss specific security concerns or security operations with the public," the sheriff's office told 11Alive in a statement.

It's unclear if the alleged security concerns are related to any of the defendants in the trial at this time.
